InsurGrid
Overview
Two-pronged policy-data product for P&C agents: (a) carrier-agnostic policy collection via client links (350+ carriers claimed), (b) AI document extraction — dec pages and ACORD forms to structured JSON (99% accuracy claimed, unverified), plus ACORD generation, COI automation, loss-run collection. 2,500+ agents, ~100K dec pages processed. Raised $3.4M pre-seed; acquired by Helium Ventures (AI-native holdco of the Stilt founders), January 2026; post-acquisition roadmap includes commercial data extraction.
Relationships
- canopy-connect — the commercial-lines leader in the same intake lane; InsurGrid is stronger on document extraction, weaker/unclear on commercial credential-pull.
- axle — the developer-first competitor.
Notes
- Named (with Canopy) in the 2026-08-15 session as the policy-pull integration behind the free-insurance-check-up v1.
- Open question for the demo: is its commercial support credential-pull or extraction-only? Also: a holdco-owned vendor powering a competitor-adjacent AI brokerage is an untested posture.
- First live vendor contact, 2026-08-17 (manya-khanna, Customer Success). Pricing confirmed: 19.99/mo per user beyond 5, no pull cap on the standard plan; a separate API service agreement covers enterprise volume, with tiers starting ~500 pulls/month and custom quoting above ~100K/month. No free trial — either a minimum API contract or 50% off the first month.
- The 2026-08-15 open question is now contested rather than closed. Manya states ~300 personal-lines carriers and 120+ commercial, with any carrier offering online customer accounts addable on request, and describes document upload as a fallback added because most commercial agencies lack online accounts — not as the only commercial path. This conflicts with the public-FAQ reading recorded in insurance-vendor-diligence-tracker (“extraction/upload only, never credential-pull”). Unresolved; close against the carrier list and API docs she committed to send.
- No automatic refresh — an architectural constraint, not a roadmap gap. A customer login opens a 15–20 minute window in which data is pulled; credentials are never stored, so there is no “remember me” and re-verifying a policy later requires the customer to re-authenticate. Pulled data itself persists on the dashboard indefinitely until the account is deactivated. Vendor’s counter to canopy-connect’s marketed auto-refresh: an enterprise customer left for Canopy over that feature and returned, citing reliability and pricing.
- Acquisition-phase use is explicitly permitted — using InsurGrid on prospects before they are clients raises no T&C issue; pricing stays volume-based and staging-period discounts are routine. Directly clears an unknown for insurance-checkup-funnel-design.
- Custom intake forms are a larger part of the product than desk research showed: an unlimited-question form builder with producer branding, which can combine additional questions with the carrier login flow in a single customer-facing step. Positioned as having displaced JotForm for its users, and as something pure form vendors cannot match because they do not do carrier login.
- Reliability still vendor self-report only (“about 100%”; the ~1% being technical glitches or partial pulls fixed manually on report). No completion-rate figure offered, and the inconsistent public carrier counts were not raised on the call.
- Integrations: AgencyZoom (AMS), TurboRater (Zywave), PL Rating — activated with an agency key from a settings tab; noted as a possible indirect path to bold-penguin.
- Setup: 2–3 working days from signed contract and payment to a staging account with API/webhook testing and developer support. Billing is monthly even under contract.
- Co-founder Chase Beach worked at canopy-connect before founding InsurGrid — the products are siblings by design, which explains the near-identical mechanism and the pricing-led differentiation.
