Kameleon

Overview

Israeli electronic health record (EHR) system. Per ari-leshno in 2026-05-19-saar-leshno-glaucoma-data-tracking, a “junk monopoly” — the dominant patient-record platform across Israeli healthcare with little competitive pressure. Used at sheba and elsewhere. Spelling and exact corporate identity uncertain — the Hebrew ASR rendered it “קמיליון”; common transliterations include Kameleon / Cameleon / Camileon.

Relationships

  • sheba — installed customer.

Notes

  • Cited as the structural reason cross-clinic data portability is so painful in Israel: one closed monopoly system at the EHR layer + closed instrument vendors at the data-capture layer (e.g. zeiss) means longitudinal tracking happens via paper + PDF.
  • ari-leshno also referenced a US ophthalmology niche-EHR named “Apik / Epic” — likely a niche product rather than Epic Systems the giant; not promoted to its own page pending verification.
