SnapTrade

Overview

Unified-API platform for retail trading / brokerage connectivity — Plaid-equivalent for the trading vertical. Smaller than plaid; competes by doing the broker-side integration work themselves so client apps integrate once and get a fan-out of broker connections. Currently powers etoro’s “via SnapTrade” presence in third-party finance apps (e.g. Seeking Alpha is connected to eToro through SnapTrade without ever talking to eToro directly).

Relationships

  • etoro — current partnership; SnapTrade did the eToro integration on their side, eToro inherits distribution into SnapTrade’s downstream apps for free.
  • Adjacent reference template alongside plaid for the connect-businesses-multi-vertical-api thesis.

Notes

  • Cited in 2026-05-31-directions-connect-businesses-and-brain-scaling as evidence that the unified-API pattern works in narrower verticals than banking — a smaller player can still win if they invest the integration work themselves.
  • Customer-support example surfaced in the meeting: when etoro’s API has issues, end-customers (e.g. Seeking Alpha users) hit SnapTrade first, who escalates to eToro. Demonstrates the support-routing model that any connect-businesses-multi-vertical-api play would need to replicate.
