Coverdash

Overview

NYC embedded business-insurance agency, founded 2022 by Ralph Betesh (CEO) and David Vainer. A single-line-of-code widget lets payroll, lending, e-commerce, formation and vertical-SaaS platforms offer commercial insurance in-flow — GL, WC, commercial auto, professional liability, cyber, BOP and management liability, quoted across 30+ commercial carriers, bindable in minutes, with COI download and pay-as-you-go workers’ comp tied to real-time payroll data.

**Funding: 2.5M (Jan 2023, Bling Capital, AXIS); Series A $13.5M (Feb 2024, led by Nyca Partners, with Bling, AXIS Digital Ventures, Tokio Marine Future Fund, Expansion VC, Cameron Ventures). No Series B as of 2026-08-19 — checked against Tracxn, PitchBook, CB Insights and Crunchbase, all of which still show the Feb 2024 Series A as the latest round. Valuation never disclosed.

Relationships

  • next-insurance — the deeper embedded footprint (QuickBooks, Gusto, Amazon) that nonetheless grew mainly via direct performance marketing.

Notes

  • Why tracked: Coverdash is the live experiment for the “embedded solves SMB-insurance CAC” assumption behind smb-insurance-portfolio-brokerage, white-label-distribution-gtm, and the enterprise/aggregator direction discussed 2026-08-19.
  • ⚠ Correction (2026-08-19): the “no tier-1 platform wins” reading on this page was wrong, or has been overtaken. The partner list is longer and heavier than the 2026-08-01 pass captured:
    • Housecall Pro (2026-08-12) — home-services field-service SaaS with 200,000+ home service professionals, claiming to serve “1 in 4 American homes.” Plumbers, HVAC, electricians, cleaners, landscapers. This is a genuine scaled vertical-SaaS platform, not a long-tail fintech.
    • LendingTree (2024-11-20) — mass-market lending marketplace.
    • Bizee (2024-11-06) — “over 1 million LLCs” formed; Swyft Filings (2025-03-04) — “hundreds of thousands.” Business-formation platforms sit at the exact moment a business first needs coverage.
    • Others: Celtic Bank (2024-09), Kapitus (2024-10), Revenued (2024-07), Viably (2024-12), Lendzi (2025-06), Lendistry (2025-08), Mad Mobile/CAKE (2025-10), Collective (2026-03), Globalfy (2026-08).
  • Still zero disclosed attach rates. Checked the full partnership-announcement archive and the 2026 press: not one release discloses attach rate, policies issued, or premium volume. This remains true of every SMB embedded programme, not just Coverdash.
  • The traction numbers people quote are from the Series A press cycle, not from now. Betesh’s figures — embedded partners tripled to 100+, 30% month-over-month customer growth, headcount up five-fold, revenue “exponential” — were all given in February 2024 and he explicitly declined to give revenue specifics. Treat any 2026 citation of them as stale.
  • The sharpest signal is the shape of the two facts together: a company claiming 30% MoM growth and 100+ partners in Feb 2024, still adding partners at scale through Aug 2026 (including a 200K-user platform), that has not raised in ~2.5 years. Either the partnerships are not converting into the volume a Series B needs, or the company is deliberately staying lean. Absence of a public round is not proof of a failed one — but with this much partner news and this little funding news, it is the most informative thing available in the category.
  • Competitive set (per next-insurance): embroker, Pie, Coterie, Hiscox, biBERK.
  • Web-verified 2026-08-19: PRNewswire (Housecall Pro, 2026-08-12); coverdash.com partnership archive (full dated list); TechCrunch/Yahoo Finance 2024-02-28 (Betesh traction claims); BusinessWire + fintech.global (Series A); Tracxn / PitchBook / CB Insights / Crunchbase (funding history). Earlier pass: 2026-08-01.
