Cover (Israel)

Overview

Israeli consumer platform (cover.co.il / my.coverai.co.il) that shows a person’s pension, savings and insurance in one place, analyzes the portfolio, and recommends improvements to coverage and terms. Free to the user; claims 350,000+ Israeli users. Ships an always-on AI assistant reachable in-app and over WhatsApp. Co-founder/COO: Lior Shekory. Per Adif+ (Hebrew trade press), Cover is recruiting dozens of licensed pension insurance agents to expand its digital pension activity — i.e. the free analytics front end feeds a licensed human distribution back end.

The load-bearing detail: Cover’s own site states it pulls customer data by connecting to the Pension Clearing House (המסלקה הפנסיונית) and Ministry of Finance systems. It does not ask the customer to upload documents. That is only possible because Israel mandates the rails — see policy-ingestion-requires-a-data-rail.

Relationships

  • clark — same ingest → advise → become the distributor model, Germany/consumer; Cover is the Israeli sibling.
  • coverwatch — the US commercial-side attempt at the same promise, but with no rail to read from (upload + parse instead).
  • passportcard — unrelated business, but the same Israel-first market caveat applies (see Notes).

Notes

  • Monetization is not disclosed on Cover’s site (the product is marketed as “completely free”). The agent-recruitment story strongly implies commission-based distribution through its licensed pension agents — the Clark model. (inference — needs a source before it is used in a pitch.)
  • Scope limit that matters: the Israeli rails cover personal lines (motor, home, health, LTC, mortgage life) and pension/savings. Business/commercial insurance is not in Har HaBituach. So Cover is not evidence that a portfolio aggregator works for SMB commercial anywhere — it is evidence that it works where a regulator built the pipe, on personal lines.
  • Why the team should care: Cover is the cleanest natural experiment separating “the aggregation product is good” from “the aggregation product is cheap to build here.” Israel supplies the data for free; the US does not.
  • Israel-market caveat consistent with passportcard vs faye: home-market scale ≠ a portable model.
  • Web-verified 2026-08-09 (cover.co.il homepage; Adif+ agent-recruitment story; Capital Market Authority Har HaBituach portal at harb.cma.gov.il). No raw capture in this repo yet.

  • 2026-08-10-directions-huri-pitch-deck-build — placed on the competitive quadrant; critiqued as presenting continuous monitoring while really being a comparison-site experience (“German PassportCard” read) — the contrast the team wants “Ainsure“‘s real continuity to beat.
  • 2026-08-13-directions-fundraising-and-validation-plan — elevated to GTM template: the “Cover-style B2C” channel named the biggest prize (Saar discovered Cover via a podcast; podcast ads judged strong-but-expensive for later), with a Cover-style landing page among the planned ₪5K demand experiments.
  • 2026-08-15-directions-acquisition-wedge-and-deck-structure — its brand-led GTM (home page signaling “something different”, podcast campaigns) used as the model for the acquisition-wedge MVP.
